On 6 April 2019, the inaugural QS Subject Focus Summit concluded successfully in the lobby of the Kyung Hee University’s Grand Peace Hall in Seoul, South Korea. Having been attended by 120 delegates, including the deans of all Korean dentistry schools and deans or department leaders from a total of 16 different countries, the Summit featured a true “who is who” of the subject.
Although the Summit focuses on the developments within the Asia-Pacific region, the participation of dentistry deans from the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, Sweden’s Karolinska Institute and Egypt’s Ain Shams University helped in providing a global perspective on dental research and education.
The Summit kicked off with a welcome dinner on 4 April 2019. It comprised of welcoming remarks by senior QS and Kyung Hee University officials, including a keynote delivered by Kyung Hee University’s acting president, Professor Young Guk Park and a jazz music performance by faculty members of Kyung Hee University.
The next day and a half witnessed numerous presentations and panel discussions as well as a networking lunch. After which, conference delegates were invited to a personalized lunch and tour of the city with Kyung Hee University students. This undeniably provided a unique first-hand perspective of university life, the city of Seoul and its people.
