Professor Liang-Yo Yang got his DVM degree from National Taiwan University (Taiwan) and his PhD degree in Neuroscience Program at Michigan State University (USA). Professor Yang did his postdoc training in Neuroscience at UCLA (USA). Professor Yang is currently a faculty member of School of Medicine, College of Medicine, China Medical University. Professor Yang also serves as the Dean of International and Public Affairs and leads the international and public affairs at China Medical University, Taichung, Taiwan.
Professor Yang has received Teaching Creativity Award for 5 times, Best Teacher Award for three consecutive years and the Distinguished Teacher Award (There is only one TMU Distinguished Teacher Award Recipient so far) at Taipei Medical University.
Professor Yang focuses his research on investigating cellular and molecular mechanisms of how neurotrophic factors and steroid hormones regulate neuronal survival and functions, and examining the possible roles of neurotrophic factors and steroid hormones in treating neurodegenerative diseases and neural injuries such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, Alzheimers disease and Parkinsons disease.
